MASSIVE AND COMPLEX STEEL STRUCTURES

SPECIAL STRUCTURES

We provide solutions for exceptionally large, complex, and demanding steel structure deliveries. The fabrication of massive steel structures is one of our core competencies, and oversized transportations for our structures depart from our facility nearly every week. Pictured here are the lock gate leaves we delivered for the Saimaa Canal.

SURFACE TREATMENTS ALSO AS SUBCONTRACTING

SURFACE TREATMENTS

Even the largest structures can be supplied fully finished and treated. Our in-house, 1,400+ square metre surface treatment plant enables industrial-scale, cost-efficient processing of heavy steel components indoors. We offer comprehensive surface preparation, painting, and fire-retardant coatings both for in-house manufacturing projects and external subcontracts. We enhanced the production efficiency of the Steel Group Pohjanmaa fabrication facility through an EU co-funded project. As part of this investment, we installed a new Finnish-made submerged arc welding column and boom, significantly boosting our automation level upon its commissioning in autumn 2023. At the same time, our facility layout was redesigned for optimal operational flow.

Investment details:

  • We invested in a Finnish-made submerged arc welding column and boom manufactured by Pemamek Oy.
  • Installed a new 100-metre rail track running the full length of the fabrication facility to support the column and boom.
  • Completely redesigned the facility layout to streamline overall production efficiency.
  • The new submerged arc welding unit has been in full production since October 2023.
